Challenges are current issues that communities or organizations have in a variety of public sectors including healthcare, environment, and welfare.
Public sector staff, students, and startups can submit a challenge to the Virtual DI Hub
and anyone selected can participate in the challenge program. The challenge program provides an opportunity to develop
and test creative digital products or services in cooperation with public enterprises, medical institutions, government agencies, and startups.
Any participant in the challenge program can draw creative ideas to solve their challenges through a workshop using
Amazon’s innovation method called Working Backwards.
The key outputs of Working Backwards include a hypothetical 'press release' and 'frequently asked questions'
known as PRFAQ. Most enterprises develop services and then prepare press releases.
However, Amazon first prepares hypothetical press releases to make its visions clear to its customers by sharing which benefits
will be given to them with relevant divisions.
FAQs are created to identify questions potential customers or internal stakeholders of organizations would have and answer to the questions.
Participating institutions may promote their ideas and develop solutions in cooperation with professors,
students, and startups based on the press releases and FAQs, use AWS’ leading cloud technologies, and get AWS cloud credits.
Through this process, participants can also adopt digital technologies and innovation methodologies.
The outputs of the challenge program are released as open source through the website of Busan CIC
to be used in the public sector in other regions or countries.
